Marc Chavez

Consultant

  • Chemistry Method Optimization and Development, Computer System Validation, LIMS Deployment and Administration

Marc has a wide range of experience across multiple labs and industries, and is passionate about improving and optimizing laboratory spaces. Marc built his initial foundation of knowledge by working in the infant formula industry, which instilled in him cGMP and quality principles. Here, he built his skillset by laying a strong foundation in analytical testing of nutritional products, covering various instrumentation and analytical techniques. He led or participated in several method development/validation projects, including Computer System Validation for their accompanying software.

Marc transitioned to the semiconductor industry leading a lab in their quality control work for high purity chemicals. Here, he tested his leadership skills by taking a team that had been undervalued and transforming them into a high-performing team that became the role model for the company. He was more formally introduced to Six Sigma in this role. He used this process to improve the Right the First Time testing rate by examining and optimizing Heavy Metals Analysis. Here, he also further developed his already extensive experience with LIMS by helping to successfully implement a new LIMS platform for the organization, being a key team member for the site, and supporting additional sites.

Marc utilized his experience with LIMS to transition to a role as a LIMS Administrator for a small Cell and Gene Therapy CDMO. Here, he saw the implementation of the product testing and Stability workflows. Though working on the system side of the lab, he could still grow and refine his Quality experience by working closely with quality team members to ensure compliance within the system, primarily through change management.

Marc is a native Southern Californian, having been born and raised in Corona, California. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana. His work has taken him from Indiana to central California and finally back to southern California in the greater Los Angeles area.
